The Ukrainian police have in their ranks a special unit, called Thor, whose aim is to mutilate Russian soldiers, a butchers’ task they carry out with the help of the CIA, claims the British newspaper Times (1).
“The 27-man group, which is officially a police special operations unit, operates independently of the Ukrainian army and works closely with the country’s military intelligence, the GUR, which provides them with ammunition and intelligence.” According to the Times, the unit is authorized to choose its missions, barracks and combat.
Its men, according to the Times, are veterans who fought in the Donbas in 2014. The British Express presents them as former businessmen who took up arms to defend their country (2). They began their exploits in February in the Kiev region, when the Russian army approached the capital. Currently, the unit is in the Zaporiya region, where the nuclear power plant is located and where the next visit of the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Argentine Rafael Grossi, is expected.
Their fighting methods are very particular: “As ammunition runs out and fighting rages in eastern Ukraine, Thor’s special operations troops believe that maiming, rather than killing, their Russian counterparts is more effective.”
Referring to the plastic bottles containing explosives, Ukrainian soldier Aleksander said, “They are meant to hurt the Russians. If they tear off an arm or a leg, they will forever be a burden to the state. It is better than killing them. It will remind the Russian people of the cost of Putin’s war. And that they could be next.”
Members of this unit despise the Ukrainian army. “Our group does not act like the army. Because if we act like an army, we will quickly run out of luck.”
To maim the Russian military, they use information provided to them by the CIA. “We select targets in the program, and targets can be placed there both by the CIA satellite and by our own satellite, which our volunteers pay for. Information is collected there from all kinds of sources.”
